The woods : This forested area is in Toronto, Canada - near Yonge/St.Clair - it is called David A. Balfour Park. We've been getting a lot of rain recently and i decided to just go out with my umbrella and take some pictures. Just before I entered the woods i snapped a few pictures of a playground.

Ps. most of the pictures were shot in ISO 1600 (something i've never done before) - as there just wasn't enough light and i don't really like the 'harsh' light from a flash.

Hi,
i'm an amateur photographer in Toronto, Canada. Right now just got the Canon Rebel XSi with 2 lenses. I'm hoping to purchase more lenses in the future and i'll update my bio once i get some good pics here.

Just got a new DELL computer with an awesome 24" monitor. Gotta admit ..viewing pictures is a whole lot more enjoyable now than on my previous 14" laptop screen. As well..Smugmug allows for full screen display on its site which is really cool.

May 15-2009
Got CS4 extended version, Lightroom 2.2 and Elements 7, so there is a lot to learn.

November-2009
Did my first Tilt-Shift image (without an actual tilt-shift lens) and my first HDR image using Photomatix (trial version) and i'm very excited about the endless possibilities here.

Campfire at Algonquin Park in Canada.

Lake Wilcox in Oak Ridges, Ontario. I tried to emphasize the sun's rays here as finally it broke through the thick cloud cover. The lake is still frozen but slowly starting to melt.

this effect was created by focusing on Antonio and zooming out while pressing the shutter button during this 1/5 second exposure shot at f5.0.

this was taken just outside the Beaches area..this grass is the back lot of the Ontario Water Treatment Facility..but i loved the angle of the field here...and the nice green colour of the grass.

i like how the ducks lined up here in this pic.

this tree really caught my attention as it was very dark and didn't have any leaves on it..so i suppose its dead. I tried making the picture look more spooky.

Toronto Zoo : While the animals are seemingly well-treated..i couldn't help myself thinking at times that this was a sort of animal prison for them. The cougar in particular seemed very restless and was pacing back and forth in his cage..which wasn't that big..
i also wanted to mention that taking pics of animals in a zoo is kind of cheating..its one thing to be in the wild and capture a good picture of an animal..and another thing when the animal really has nowhere to go.

Poker Night - 09-11-2009 : I experimented with slow shutter speeds, hand-holding at 1/5sec and 1/6sec at ISO1600. I thought it looked more natural than just using a flash which would have thrown a lot of light into the pics.

I also edited the pics in CS4 and Lightroom 2 quite a bit.
